The lighthouse of Heligoland has a long history and is a landmark of this small island in the North Sea. A stamp released on July 2023 goes perfectly with our iconic vintage travel card "Helgoland" This card holds a corresponding special cancellation mark "Tag der Briefmarke - Leuchtturm Helgoland" of July 2023 which turns the card into a maxicard. Due to the nature of maxicards, each copy looks slightly different and  may vary from the picture. Attention - small edition only! In case you plan to send out this postcard be informed it still requires postage.

Heligoland - a very special place in Germany! This island in the North Sea, consisting of a main island and a secondary island Düne, covers less than 2 square kilometers of land area. The history of lighthouses on Helgoland dates back to 1811. Today's lighthouse on Oberland has the strongest beacon of all German lighthouses, its light can be seen 50 km away on clear nights.

Being by the sea is great for body and soul. The air, seeing the water, hearing the waves - it simply feels good. Whether as a short break for a few hours or as a long vacation, the sea is a place of longing for many people.
