Garden Birds in Germany

We are delighted - the title of “Bird of the Year 2025” goes to the black redstart. This 13-15 centimeter tall, graceful songbird can be observed in Central Europe from March to November. Now in its 4th year, we are dedicating a postcard to Germany's bird of the year.

Decorate your letters, postcards and more this winter with our “Birds in Snow” Artistamps. Four different species of birds are beautifully arranged. You can use the stamps individually or as a group.  Artistamps (an artificial word made up of “artist” and “stamps”) look like stamps with the typical perforation and lick & stick back. Each year in Germany a "Bird of the Year" is selected. In 2024, the title goes to the lapwing. It is unmistakable due to its feather plume and distinctive call. Lapwings prefer to live in moors, swamps and wet meadows and are endangered in Germany nowadays.

Each year in Germany a "Bird of the Year" is selected. Almost everyone knows the robin - but the whinchat? The title "Bird of the Year 2023" puts the spotlight on this little bird that spends the winter in Africa! And we dedicate an iconic postcard to it.

Each year in Germany a "Bird of the Year" is selected. In 2022 it is the Wiedehopf - hoopoe. It is quite difficult to spot one of these spectacular birds in Germany - if you see one, it is easy to tell the species. Enjoy.

When you ask people about favorite animals, many name penguins. We like them a lot too, admittedly! And are happy to have these two specimens from the large penguin family on board. They are Gentoo penguins and they are looking forward to being sent around the world.
